Netherton Vine is in a delightful and peaceful setting within Dartmoor National Park and in an area of outstanding natural beauty.  It is three miles south of the  A30 (giving direct access to Exeter, 13 miles away, and Okehampton 10 miles away).

A quarter of a mile from the cottage is Drewsteignton,
said to be one of the  most unspoilt villages in the National Park.  Around the village square are thatched cottages, the pub, village shop/post office, and Anglican church.

A mile away by road or footpath is the well known beauty spot of Fingle Bridge over the River Teign,
and the Fingle Bridge Inn.

Similarly, in the opposite direction, is the National Trust's Castle Drogo: the estate provides many of the superb walks in the immediate vicinity of the village.

The whole area provides walkers with a glorious variety of scenery on footpaths which generally give excellent going underfoot all the year round.
